Sea Lavender - Dune Ridge is a secluded property located on Bald Head Island in North Carolina. Bald Head Island is a barrier Island that is accessed only by personal boat or passenger ferry.
There are plenty of things to do on the island, including swimming, golf, spending time at the beach via several beach access points, hiking, taking nature courses and walks with nature conservancy professionals (visit sea turtle nests, alligator look outs, etc), kayaking, biking, and fishing. The island culture is laid back and relaxed, a perfect get away spot to unwind.
When you board the ferry for the 20-minute ride to Bald Head Island, you leave your car behind, along with the stress of the mainland world.
Transportation here is limited to golf carts, bikes, or your own two feet… resulting in a more relaxed, easy-going pace. Conveniently located only 4 blocks from the house is a full grocery store and shopping village.
Transportation from the Ferry Landing to the home can be arranged with the transportation department when you make your ferry reservation.
Stroll 14 miles of pristine beaches, try your luck on the acclaimed seaside golf course, or just kick back on the porch of a cottage overlooking the Atlantic. Whether oceanfront or tucked in the maritime forest, large enough for extended families or cozy enough for couples, our vacation home allows you to perfectly suit your getaway mood.
With beaches rimming its eastern, southern and western shores, the island's geography presents another remarkable phenomenon: the sun both rises and sets over the Atlantic Ocean each day.
With 10,000 of the island's 12,000 total acres set aside as nature preserves, choosing which environment to explore first can be a tough decision. Ocean beaches stretch for 14 miles, while a serpentine tidal creek, perfect for paddling a kayak or canoe, traverses the salt marsh. The maritime forest, with its miles of walking trails, beckons hikers with an enchanting mix of palms, live oaks, dogwoods and cedars.
All in all, Bald Head Island is a unique place. From its position as one of the top golf courses in North Carolina to its significance as a loggerhead turtle nesting ground, story ideas run the gamut.

Lazy Dog Days of Summer
The house is very comfortable and feels like a warm beach house. The decks are spectacular. While you have to take a ferry over to the island and then a tram to the house which is a little taxing, once you are there the blood pressure drops drastically and it’s time to chill. Everyone gets around on electric golf carts and the island is a Mecca for wildlife. The golf course is beautiful with lots of water and the Bald Head Island pool is great with the water slides for the kids and the fruity drinks for the adults. Several days a steel drum band played as we enjoyed our sun and suds! The owner was super accommodating and helpful. We hope to be back soon to this little paradise off the NC coast!!”
